‘Straying Closer To The truth’ is an exhibition and series of events resulting from an ongoing programme of artists’ residencies at the Friary over the past two years. Each artist resident was invited to live with the friars for a period of weeks. They were provided with large studio spaces, and invited to experience the rhythm of the friars’ existence, and to attend morning masses, meditations, meals and any other day-to-day goings on that might occur.

The creativity and work generated from the residency programme culminates in this week-long event, which will include visual art, performances, poetry readings and a symposium where members of the public will be invited to join the artists and friars in a discussion on the role of spirituality in art, and art in spirituality.

Participating artists, coming from Ireland, England, Eastern Europe and America, will present work made during the residency, as well as developing site-specific installations over the week.
